ZTE announces Nvidia Mimosa X smartphone

The first smartphone to use both an application processor and a baseband processor from Nvidia has been announced by ZTE: the Mimosa X. ”The Tegra processor and Icera modem will play an important part in the development of the mobile handset market, and ZTE has worked closely with Nvidia to develop the Mimosa X smartphone in time for launch at this major global telecoms industry event.” He Shiyou, EVP and head of the terminal division at ZTE, said.

Mimosa X will feature Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, come with 4.3″ HD touchscreen, 4GB internal storage and 5MP rear facing camera. It will also sport digital living network alliance (DLNA) technology.

“The ZTE Mimosa X sets a milestone for the mobile computing industry. This is the first time that both Nvidia Tegra and Icera processors are powering a smartphone.” Michael Rayfield, GM of mobile at Nvidia, said.
