Xbox update delayed, executive says
Microsoft has delayed its much anticipated Xbox Dashboard update, which will redesign the game consoles interface bringing a better Kinect functionality, cloud storage, deeper Facebook integration and Lovefilm service. Much like a kid waking up Christmas morning, consumers found their tree to be quite empty–though the colorful Christmas lights were still on. Larry Hryb, the director of programming for Xbox, said on Twitter and Google+ it was going to be delayed.
“FYI: The timing for Xbox 360 dashboard update has been slightly delayed. I’ll have a status update later today,” Hryb originally announced on Monday it would be available no later than 7 a.m. PST.
While eager games might be disappointed, there is still a possibility the update will be released later today. With the introduction to the Xbox 360 gesture and speech-controlled navigation through the console’s menus, and a whole slew of other new features, gamers will have to wait a while longer–hopefully not too long.
Hryb later Tweeted “We are still working to get the release out. Stay tuned, we’ll have an update this afternoon (PT) on when it will begin rolling out.” — so the possibilities of a release today?
