Skype: ‘coming soon’ to Windows Phone
Skype, now owned by Microsoft, will be fully integrated into Windows phones soon. Skype is currently available for Apple iOS and Android OS, but has not been the case for Windows phones.
“Our growth has been real spectacular in the past couple of years. We just announced that we crossed over 200 million monthly users and our users are using Skype over 300 billion minutes over the past year.” said Rick Osterloh, VP Products with Skype. Osterloh also mentioned a partnership with Facebook where any user can use Skype to make calls with other Facebook friends.
Another new feature is group calling, under the premium subscription, where users can do unlimited group calling, screen sharing, see each others videos and web browser sharing. Skype integration for Windows phone, Xbox and Windows 8 will be available later this year, but no release date has been announced.
