No 2012 Microsoft ‘Xbox 720′ — June 2013 debut at E3 more likely
Rumor speculation of Microsoft’s new Xbox to hit shelves this year – will now rest with some disappointment to fans. Microsoft says it will use 2012 to continue pushing its sales of the Xbox 360, but might debut its successor as early as next year. Even with such information — it’s nothing set in stone.
Microsoft could debut its new Xbox, rumored as the “Xbox 720″, at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in 2013 with a later launch of the console in the same year. In a statement sent by Bloomberg, Microsoft said “There will be no talk of new Xbox hardware at E3 or anytime soon,” said spokesman David Dennis in the statement. “For us, 2012 is all about Xbox 360.”
To fathom the idea behind a new release announcement while sales are currently rising quickly reminds us “don’t fix what isn’t broken”. Any announcement from Microsoft on a new release this soon could hurt orders for current lineups.
“They’re still selling a lot of Xbox 360, and they’re making money,” said Michael Pachter, an analyst at Wedbush Securities Inc. in Los Angeles. “I don’t think the world needs them to put a new console out just because we’re bored.”
