Kinect 2 so accurate it can lip read
It gives new meaning to the term “read my lips”. According to some tipped rumors at Eurogamer, the next generation of Kinect will be so accurate it can read lips. Kinect 2 will offer improved motion sensing as well as voice recognition and even measure a person’s emotional state by detecting voice pitch.
If the rumors are true, the next generation of Kinect will be beyond its current version. Since the launch of Kinect in 2010, the world has changed significantly in how we communicate and interact with our consoles, setting off a huge domino effect of other possibilities.
With the current Kinect depth sensor operating at 30 frames per second with a limited 320×240 resolution, Kinect 2 is rumored to work directly with the processor and memory rather than its current USB restrictions. This will give Kinect 2 the ability to send more information allowing for more possibilities for its technology.
“It can be cabled straight through on any number of technologies that just take phenomenally high res data straight to the main processor and straight to the main RAM and ask, what do you want to do with it?” a source told Eurogamer.
The expected, rumored, release of Kinect 2 will be around the end of 2012 and is expected to be revealed at E3 2012.
