iPhone Jailbreakers: don’t Install H1Siri–It’s illegal and dangerous

iPhone Siri JailbreakAccording to sources, the new H1Siri (new port of Siri, aka Hi Siri) uses illegal code. Not only is the usage of the binary code illegal, its said to also send information to the creators of the jailbreak app, too. Coming in from a group of Chinese hackers, who call themselves the CD-Dev Team, the new Siri port was not intended to be released, but only ran as a small test until leaked. (intentional maybe?)

To install H1Siri users must first Jailbreak their iPhone, but the risks with this version of Siri go quite deep. iPhone Dev Team hacker Chpwn strongly urges users to simply avoid it via a Twitter saying “It’s up to you if you want to accept that risk. It’s also your choice if you want to violate copyright law to obtain the needed files.”

Around the web brave souls have installed H1Siri and sent off complaints on forums abroad with reports of the their phones randomly rebooting, app settings getting quirked, camera issues and even freeze-ups on the Apple logo.

Since the leaked version got out, CD-Dev Team servers have been overwhelmed and simply can not keep up–and also means a lot of soon-to-be sorry souls have copies. If Carrier IQ software isn’t enough to make someone concerned, the H1Siri port should put that into perspective. iPhone Dev Team hacker Chpwn later said “if you use a proxy to access Siri, you may be sending your Email, SMS, Calendar, Contacts, Location, etc through that server.” — that pretty much sums it up right there: avoid it.
