Intel to show off its Claremont NTV CPU next week
Running at near-threshold voltage (NTV), the CPU can still remain operational and provide more batter life for laptops rather than jumping into hibernation or sleep mode.
Last year Intel’s Developer Forum demonstrated a PC utilizing the processor while running a minor animations running on DDR3 memory. ”It’s allowing us to make Intel’s product more power efficient across the compute continuum” Justin Rattner, Intel’s chief technology officer said.
Rattner later said ”The design has generated an extraordinary amount of interest,” Paving the road for tablets and other devices, Intel will need to do all it can to push its processors into consumer electronics devices.
