Facebook phone surfaces again, codenamed ‘Buffy’
The Facebook phone, codenamed “Buffy”, will have hurdles to overcome in a market that is heavily saturated, but it might just play out for them with 350 million mobile users accessing its service.
While no release date has been announced, the company has recently chose HTC for the phones hardware with Samsung as a consideration. While the codename “Buffy” will be a pleasing roll-off-the-tongue for Sarah Michelle Gellar fans, the Facebook phone may release with a heavily modified version of Android.
A spokesman for Facebook told AllThingsD “Our mobile strategy is simple: We think every mobile device is better if it is deeply social. We’re working across the entire mobile industry; with operators, hardware manufacturers, OS providers, and application developers to bring powerful social experiences to more people around the world.”
Over the years Facebook has changed the way people interact with its website via social media apps. Today its users can upload photos directly from their phone and interact with Facebook contacts list onto the phone.
