Android market crushed smartphone competition last quarter
The competition between Apple and Android is no unfamiliar territory to the die-hard fans, and the smartphone battlefield can be brutal. Android OS is leading the market at 52.5%, up 25% from last summer. Apple is still a bright star in the hemisphere, something analyst speculate will change back. With the wait of the iPhone4s and Apple’s predictions in its fourth-quarter earnings report, one might also wonder if consumers were simply disappointed on the iPhone4s release when fans expected a new overhauled iPhone5.
Still, in Gartner’s report, Roberta Cozz says “Android has a diverse spectrum of devices,”. The Android market has a large bombardment of devices to appeal to the consumer from the Droid Bionic, Droid 3, HTC EVO 3D and the Photon 4G.
The report also mentions that Windows Phone’s market share had dropped from 2.7% in the third quarter of 2010 and is now at 1.5% for 2011.
