Acer launches LED backlit G6 LCD monitors

Acer has launched its G6 series slim LCD monitors.

Acer’s G6 series LCD screens come in 19in, 20in, 22in, 23in, 24in and 27in sizes with all but the 19in model using the inferior 16:9 aspect ratio. The firm has opted for LED backlighting on all of its G6 series monitors, resulting in slim-line profiles.

Although Acer cites a meaningless high contrast ratio for the monitors it said they use 6-bit panels with 5ms response times. The resolutions rise from 1440×900 on the 19in model to 1920×1080 on the 27in model.

The firm included D-Sub connectors throughout the range, with DVI and HDMI being optional, an extremely disappointing fact since those should be the norm by now. Thankfully Acer has dispensed with the tinny built-in speakers on the G6 monitors and, although it waxed lyrical about its stand that is “sleek, modern appearance, while evoking speed and performance”, the firm included VESA 100 mounts.

Acer said, “Along with technologies designed to deliver clearer and sharper images, the G6 series flaunts a unique design with smooth and rounded surfaces creating a strong visual impression and giving a highly distinctive look.”
