1,600 Modern Warfare 3 players banned for cheating
Infinity Ward has pulled out its ban-hammer on more than 1,600 Modern Warfare 3 players for cheating. That number is expected to rise as more players attempt to exploit the games illegal loop-holes in a report by ComputerandVideoGames.com.
Modern Warfare 3 has been a huge success for the company, earning more than $775 million in sales and breaking its predecessor record, Call of Duty: Black Ops, with $650 million last year.
Robert Bowling, Infinity Ward creative strategist, Tweeted ”Any attempt to cheat, hack, or glitch in #MW3 will not be tolerated. 1600+ bans issued. Updates in works. Please continue to report offenders.”
Bowling later stated that a Hot Fix was in the works, and that reporting players in-game “through #MW3 goes directly to our security team who issues the bans directly (after verifying).”, and were doing “mass bans” on the PC as well while working on the updates.
In a statement to PCMag.com, Robert Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard said ”With $775 million of sales of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 in its first five days, Call of Duty has become the first entertainment property in history to set five-day launch records for three consecutive years across all forms of entertainment,”
With that amount of money and over 7 million multiplayer hours logged, you can bet the company is going to protect its legit players to keep its game on the positive battlefield.
